Hub Director: Wesley Jacobi

Welcome to the San Francisco Hub at the San Francisco International Airport!

San Francisco International Airport serves as the Western and Californian Hub of American Flight Airways Virtual Airlines operations. Flights to destinations in the US, Australia, Asia, Europe, Canada and the Pacific originate from the San Francisco Hub. AFA domestic flights originate out of South Terminal Concourse B. International flights originate from the International Terminal concourse A. San Francisco is a world famous city known for its trolleys, the Golden Gate Bridge, fine dining, and shopping along with the great scenery around the Bay area. The San Francisco Hub began operations in 1998 and continues to be a Great Hub for American Flight Airways Virtual Airlines.

Early 2004, AFA launched its low cost carrier Alpha Jet with a hub in Oakland, CA. Alpha Jet flies modern Boeing 737-800 aircraft equipped with the latest navigation equipment and winglets for optimal performance. Furthermore all Alpha Jet passengers can enjoy their flight in comfortable leather seats equipped with the AFA in flight entertainment (IFE) system. Click on the Alpha Jet division link to learn more!

While not mandatory, the San Francisco hub encourages all pilots to fly online on the Vatsim Network and to participate in APG events. The hub staff invites you to visit and participate in the APG Message Forums where you'll read all the latest information about American Flight Airways Events and the San Francisco Hub, and where you can enjoy a friendly chat with our pilots.

AIRS reporting System
Posted by Wesley Jacobi on September 3, 2008 at 11:05 AM MDT

After scanning through the Atlanta Hub Forum, it has come to my attention that the AIRS reporting system is very effective in reporting errors and letting other pilots contribute information in to what the cause may have been. To report any incident while flying, whether it\'s a crash or just a small malfunction, please go to this link: http://fs10.formsite.com/afa2481/form680175666/index.html

SFO fully staffed for new pilots on Vatsim!
Posted by Wesley Jacobi on September 3, 2008 at 10:56 AM MDT

Thanks to Andre Drugg, it has come to my attention that San Francisco will be fully staffed in the near future in order for new pilots on Vatsim to gain experience on the procedures of online flying. Here's what Andre had to say:

"After speaking with one of the controllers at KSFO, it appears that they will be organizing an event for new pilots.

If you are new to the online experience, the air traffic controllers (ATC) will be holding their first event on Sept. 14th for those willing to learn.

This is open to all new and experienced pilots with KSFO ATC fully staffed. I encourage all AFA and PAY to attend this event.

It should be posted on the front page of http://www.oakartcc.com/ as an event within a couple of days.

If the organizers can make it happen... let's show up strong!"

Chief Pilot vacancy
Posted by Wesley Jacobi on September 1, 2008 at 6:24 AM MDT

SFO Pilots,

As of now, the Chief Pilot position is vacant. For this job I need someone who will:

-Discuss current Hub operations and business.
-Assist the Hub Director with the monthly Hub Report (suggestions, Pilot of the Month preference, any other additional information you want the pilots to know about etc.)
-Welcoming new pilots and announcing any relevant hub news, promotions, events that concern us etc., in the forums.
-Flying on Vatsim is not a must but certainly looks good!
-Helping the Hub Director with posting new charters and closing the ones that have already been flown by pilots.
-Being creative and continuously thinking of new ideas or things we can implement that will make this hub emanate excellence.

If anybody is interested in this position please feel free to email me at wesjacobi@gmail.com

I will be accepting resumes until the most qualified person fits the job.
